A warm Hawaiian welcome awaits guests at Sheraton Waikiki, a fabulous waterfront property with unparalleled views of Waikiki Beach and the Ko’olau Mountains
Completed in January of this year, the $188 million all encompassing renovation has brought the Sheraton Waikiki to a new level of standing in upscale facilities. Latest additions include a new lobby, two new pools, new landscaping and water features, improvements to the porte-cochere, and complete room renovations.
On location
Waikiki itself is a neighbourhood of Honolulu on the south shore of the island of O’ahu, in Hawaii. Centrally located within Honolulu, on Kalakaua Avenue, the resort is right on the beach and just minutes away from world class shopping and dining.
Away from home comforts
Each room features flat screen cable television, a coffee maker, hair dryer, purchasable in-room movies, complementary safe, an iron and ironing board, and complimentary bath amenities created exclusively for Sheraton guests. The resort also offers guests additional amenities including unlimited high speed internet access, self-parking for one car, unlimited local and 1-800 calls, fitness classes, and free meals for children specific to the hotel’s restaurants.

At your leisure
The new Helumoa Playground, the first ‘superpool’ in Waikiki, spans over 1,500 square feet of beachfront property on Waikiki Beach. Built in December 2008, this $8 million project features a 15-foot high by 70 foot long water slide, two fresh water swimming pools treated by a state-of-the-art salt chlorination treatment system, an interactive fountain area for children, two large whirlpools with breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach, chaise water sunning benches, delicious food and beverage, and a pool hut. Family activities such as water slide races, hula races, lei making, storytelling, and star-gazing are also included.
Opened in 2009, the infinity edge pool is the $6 million amenity to provide adult guests with a relaxed atmosphere by way of a seamless pool-to-ocean mirage affect. The first infinity pool in Waikiki, it is situated just feet above the ocean, allowing adults to enjoy the sweeping views of Waikiki Beach. For active guests, the Sheraton Fitness Programme by Core Performance is a new regime offered in the fitness centre which is open 24 hours a day.
Other indulgent facilities provided include free DVD players with movies, cold water misting throughout the day, oshibori (moist towels), fruit popsicles, sweet pineapple samplings and mp3 players with select Hawaiian music. The pool deck offers 125 lounge chairs accompanied by large umbrellas, and close accessibility to the resort’s signature pool bar called the Edge of Waikiki.
The hotel features four restaurants located on site:
- RumFire is a contemporary dining experience offering the largest selection of vintage rum in Hawaii, exotic Bahawaiian themed cuisine, and dramatic fire pits.
- Kai Market is a restaurant inspired by the ‘food fare’ of plantation tables 130 years ago that encouraged an influx of ethnic cuisine, and serves a locally inspired breakfast and dinner.
- The Edge of Waikiki is Waikiki’s newest pool bar serving a fresh array of dishes created from the farm-to-table concept, utilising as much local produce as possible.
- Ingredients is Honolulu’s newest product of innovative dining, an all day casual and healthy eating option.
Finally, the first ever Sheraton Club lounge in Waikiki, the Leahi Club Lounge is brand new, opened in 2011 as a $1 million investment to reward Starwood Preferred Guests. It offers heavy appetisers, flat screen televisions, printers, computers and lounge and seating areas.
